Organizing a daycare spot in Ingelheim from Singapore? No problem with famPLUS!

Book spot from Singapore

That was great. I had no idea such a thing existed," Heiko Furrer* still looks back in amazement at the experiences he had with consulting famPLUS. The 46-year-old Senior GRA Manager faced the challenge of organizing a daycare spot for his daughter from Singapore. The family was to pack their bags much earlier than originally planned to move back from Asia to the Rhine-Main area, where Heiko Furrer works for Boehringer Ingelheim.

My daughter was 3 years old at the time and had already started kindergarten in Singapore. Additionally, my wife planned to work full-time again in Germany—so we really needed this spot," explains Furrer. With the time difference of 6-7 hours and no opportunity to get a firsthand look at the daycares, it was not an easy task to arrange.

We had several issues," says Heiko Furrer. "Because we originally thought we would stay abroad for the company for 3 years, we rented out our apartment for a limited time. So we couldn't go back there. And naturally, we also didn't know exactly in which area to look for a daycare spot.

However, Heiko Furrer was lucky – his employer Boehringer Ingelheim offers support from famPLUS to better balance work and family life. Consequently, the Human Resources department proactively approached the Furrer family to inform them about the possibility of getting practical help with finding a daycare. "I immediately contacted famPLUS and scheduled an appointment for a phone consultation," Furrer reports. And he was soon very relieved: "The staff member I spoke to understood our situation and promptly exchanged information with us – for example, we learned that it’s not easy to get a daycare spot if you don’t want to start on September 1st.

Since the Furrers planned their return to Germany for April/May, they were doubly glad to receive help from famPLUS in their search for a daycare spot. A few weeks after the initial contact with famPLUS, it became clear that the Furrer family would move into a company apartment in Ingelheim, and with that, the concrete search for a daycare spot began. "We were very satisfied with famPLUS; the staff member we dealt with was very competent and nice," praised the Senior GRA Manager regarding the consultation. And he is also very satisfied with his employer: "Everything worked out well, from the apartment to the daycare spot.

Nowadays, the Furrers even have a second child, for whom they have arranged an occasional babysitter through famPLUS. "And I also like to tell my colleagues that this is a good thing," the 46-year-old is pleased. It is a good thing whose costs are covered by the employer for its employees because it also pays off for them – satisfied employees are more productive, loyal, and a good investment, as studies show.
