Both parents sick - who will care for the mother with dementia?

It is not easy to concentrate on work when, as in the case of Julia W.*, the health and care situation of the 70-year-old mother is causing great concern.

The employee from the Brillux headquarters in Münster was worried because the physical and mental decline of her mother had progressed very rapidly since the beginning of the year, after Parkinson's had been diagnosed in addition to bladder cancer. "My father had taken care of her, but then he himself became seriously ill with heart disease and had to go to rehab for four weeks," summarizes Julia W. her concerns. "We didn't know how things would continue at all!" But then Julia W. remembered that her employer Brillux collaborates with famPLUS – and that competent and prompt advice is promised for both childcare and the care of dependent parents.

I contacted famPLUS by email and received a response on the same day asking when and at which phone number the famPLUS employee could call me," reports Julia W. The consultant, specialized in care, then inquired about the most important information and needs during the detailed initial conversation and developed solution proposals. "I also found it important to be informed about the financial possibilities and to know exactly which funds my mother was entitled to," praises the Brillux employee about the famPLUS service. Julia W. very much appreciated that it was possible, thanks to the consultation, to keep her mother in a familiar environment. She also liked that the famPLUS employee not only had one solution proposal but several ideas, all of which would have been easy to implement.

Part of famPLUS's service is also to inquire about how the situation is developing and to provide support until the acute emergency is resolved – the counseling can be utilized until all matters concerning the dependent relative are settled. For Brillux employees, this service is free of charge and is part of the employer's commitment to promoting the balance between work and family.

The compatibility of career and family sometimes poses an extreme challenge for employees, especially when unexpected events disrupt the initial planning. 'We are happy to have famPLUS as a partner by our side, who has successfully helped our employees several times with childcare solutions or in organizing the care of family members. We particularly appreciate that the offer is valid for all employees nationwide and that we can be sure of a uniform quality standard at famPLUS,' according to the HR department in Münster.

Julia W. was very satisfied and can wholeheartedly recommend famPLUS: “All in all, a comprehensive and pleasant support from famPLUS. The advice is efficient, and you get the feeling of being guided through the care jungle. You receive the information you need. Thank you very much for the help!”
