famPLUS on Tour: Lectures and Info Stands for Employees on Site at BAYER

As part of the "Bayer Family Care" program, BAYER employees in Leverkusen and Wuppertal had the opportunity to meet personally with consultants from famPLUS on October 21 and 22. In collaboration with the HR department, famPLUS offers competent advice and assistance on questions concerning dependent relatives, to enable employees to better balance work and family life.

Also present were famPLUS Managing Director Dr. Markus Solf and the two consultants Christiane Wissing.   (38) and Anne-Kathrin Schulz (32). The trained nursing educators usually provide advice over the phone – now they were very curious about the questions and concerns the BAYER employees would bring to them.

How did you experience the on-site appointment, Ms. Wissing and Ms. Schulz?

Wissing: It was the first time for both of us to visit a company and directly engage in conversation with the employees. It was exciting, but it was also fun to get to know people personally. After the two days, we were all a bit exhausted, but full of wonderful impressions. And I felt that I had given something to those who needed advice. I'd gladly do it again if the opportunity arises!

Schulz: I felt the same way. I'm someone who enjoys engaging in conversations with others. I like it, even the presentation situation with 60-70 people in the audience and the questions afterward. The excitement, which is naturally always there, quickly subsided for me because I realized that people really want to know how we can help them.

Is it even possible to provide meaningful advice at standing tables and in the lecture room?

Wissing: Mainly, it was about showing presence in the company and giving people the opportunity to get an impression of us. But it was indeed the case that we discussed specific cases with employees that were weighing on them, to provide initial guidance. Further consultation is, of course, done calmly and privately over the phone – a standing table in front of the cafeteria is just a first contact.

Schulz: I was also surprised by the crowd. We then scheduled specific appointments for consultations with more privacy so that we could address each individual concern effectively. As a consultant, it's important to me that the employees feel they can trust us. In that sense, these two days on-site were a great experience because the atmosphere was very good.

What benefits did the employees gain from the introductory event and the presentations?

Wissing: Many people approached us with specific questions that we were able to answer in broad strokes. On the second day, there was a real queue due to the large crowd. We were certainly able to make our offer tangible and understandable through the flyers we distributed.

Schulz: And the fact that we also handed over a Kinder Chocolate was perceived by many as a nice gesture that fits with our company concept. smiles We heard from the employees that our visit was well received and viewed very positively. It simply builds trust when you meet in person, even if only briefly. The need for consultation is there, and people saw it as a step towards them that we visited the company. It was a great experience for both the BAYER employees and us, and we concluded that we want to do this more often. People are really happy and grateful when they receive advice and competent support – and that is exactly what we aim to provide.
